For Two-hundred and sixty-two days , Parents and guardians of the 219 abducted Girls from Chibok Girls' Secondary School, in Borno State, Have not seen or talked to their wards.
Yesterday, they accused the Federal Government of allegedly having a hand in their kidnap on April 14, 2014.
Nine parents whose daughters were among the those in Boko Haram captivity, met with the #BringBackOurGirls, BBOG, group in Abuja, blamed the President for failing to rescue their daughters six months after he made a promise to.
The spokesman of the parents, Rev. Mark Enoch who revealed this, accused the government of having a hand in the abduction, noting that the Principal of the school from which the girls were taken, had locked the girls in their hostel and warned them against leaving, hours before they were abducted.
He also, alleged that the relatives of the Principal and the school matron, were able to rescue their daughters from the sect, leaving other girls with the terrorists.
According to Enoch; “This is intentional, the hand of government is in the kidnapping; we want the government to bring back our girls. If they cannot do it alone, they should seek the assistance of the United Nations and other countries. I believe the government has a hand in the kidnapping.”
The cleric praised the BBOG for not allowing the issue to be swept under the carpet. A parent, Mrs. Samuel Abana, who lamented the abduction of her daughter begged Jonathan to fulfil the promise he made in July last year that he would secure the release of the girls, when he met the parents.
Abana recalled that the government had initially denied the abduction, before Jonathan met with the parents and pledged to rescue their daughters. “I want to remind the President, of his promise when he met with us. He promised to rescue our daughters. He said he would bring the girls back, but six months later, there is no result. Mr. President, will you fail to rescue them, if your daughter is among those abducted? If you can’t do it alone, invite the the United Nations to come and rescue our daughters”, she said.
Bulama Jonah also narrated how his daughter was abducted just a day after she left the house for school. He said: “The saddest thing was that my daughter was sent home because of N300 just a day before she was kidnapped; I gave her the money for her testimonial and she went back to school only for her to be abducted.”
