As the curtain falls on 2014, it gives everyone an opportunity to play over the events of the
year. High lighting, the high and low moments, our achievements and short
comings.
Consequently we are
able to make an appraisal in respect to the previous year and the set
goals\resolutions for the outgoing year.
Whatever the result is Positive or Negative. There are
certain things you must do to make the coming year better than the previous
one, for those who ended on a positive. Or actions you need to take in order
not to have a repeat of the past year.
I will be making a list of potential resolution killers/
dream inhibitors and their possible solutions.
It is my intent that
you get the needed know how to face the coming year.
Peradventure, you don’t have a goal/ plan. I will advice that
you make one .
As the saying goes ‘’ to fail to plan is to plan to fail’’, therefore if you have to plan you plan to
fail.
A man who has no direction, adopts everywhere as his
destination. Need I remind you that ‘’going everywhere is tantamount to going nowhere’’.
If you decide to let life take/lead you to where it wishes, you may find yourself
in the dump.
GOAL
KILLERS
COWARDICE: Is the lack
of courage, Inability to dare. In respect to goal achievement, it is the
inability to execute a plan or attempt taking an action due to fear of the
unknown/ uncertainty.
Cowardice has proven
to be a restraining factor to many dreamers, who end up planning, dreaming and
even believing without materializing their abstract work.
So if you have a plan for the coming year work towards it,
even in the face of oppositions dig your foot in and press forward.
PROCRASTINATION:
The act of postponing, This is the
ultimate time stealer. As the saying goes ‘’ Time waits for no one’’. Therefore
you must work with time, when planning you goals and working toward them.
Do not live on the island of ‘’ I WILL’’, I will do that/
this.
In order to be highly effective, you must be time conscious
and avoid procrastinating. The little time you lose as a result of
procrastinating could accumulate into a year.
Remember, 365 days make
a year, 8750 hours make a year, 525,600 minutes make a year.
X (Time lost due to procrastination) – T (available time) = LT
(remaining time). Do the math.
BURN OUT: This is the
experience of long term exhaustion and diminished interest, especially in ones
carreer.
Burn out has a lot of
causes one of them is the excessive practice of the solution to item no 2 (procrastination).
To constantly work on one issue can be exhausting, perhaps the saying ‘’
variety is the spice of life, monotony brings boredom’’ lends credence to this
fact.
As much as you would achieve a lot by focusing on your plan,
boredom could be its unwanted price.
To avoid this, give
yourself time off at intervals , to help refresh your mind and body removing
fatigue along.
PESSIMISM: This refers to having a general believe that
abd things will happen and always expecting the worst.
In context, it is expecting to fail in whatever you attempt
to do. Writing off a paln before it comes to fruition. This is a psychic
problem, with negative effects are costly. Its only solution is its natural enemy
‘’ optimism’’.
Pessimism kills your fighting spirit, it takes away your
creativity, it makes you scared. When you are to start a project it tells you ‘’
whats the point, it will fail anyway’’.
DESTINATION
DISEASE: Simply put, it is
getting comfortable/ satisfied with a level of achievement and deciding not to make conscious effort to improve.
The dangers of this
disease are not known until later, it’s a process which ends in retrogression.
Inactivity leads to redundancy to stagnation in par with lack
of progress( retrogression).
Life is dynamic to be useful to it, you must be dynamic and
not static. If you are static you become valueless to life along with your
supposed achievement.
In conclusion to remain relevant and achieve more, you shouldn’t
be too comfortable with your achievement. Aspire for more moderately.
Other inhibitors could include doubt, mixing with people who
do not support your dream and approaching your plan holistically rather than in
bits.
By and large always remember your ‘’why’’. why your doing
what you are doing. It definitely boost your marale to do more.
